This is a beautiful property in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The dining room looked promising but BYO was not allowed, so we went elsewhere for dinner. We visisted the winery 16 days ago. The wines:

2002 Signature Series Chardonnay 'Sur Lie,' 13.5% alcohol, $28- Pear nose. Oak and tropical fruit flavors. Complex. Very nice. 88

2003 Private Reserve Dry Riesling, 12% alcohol, $15- Citrus and melon nose. Lemonade without the sugar. OK. 80

2001 Signature Series Merlot, 12.5% alcohol, $40- Cedar and leather nose. red fruit flavors. Light. 85

2001 Signature Series Cabernet Franc, 12.5% alcohol, $40- Muted leather and spice nose. A little rough. 83

2001 Signature Series Cabernet Sauvignon, 12.5% alcohol, $40- Musty nose. Red fruit flavors. Light. 83

2004 Signature Series Chardonnay Icewine, 10.5% alcohol, $70- Raisn and apricot nose. Honey flavor. Excellent balance. 94

2004 Signature Series Gewurtztraminer Icewine, 11% alcohol, $70- Smokey brown sugar nose. Nice balance. 92

2004 Signature Series Vidal Icewine, 12% alcohol, $60- Raisn nose. Cloying. 87

2003 Signature Series Riesling Icewine, 11.5% alcohol, $70- Closed nose. Nice acidity. 91

2004 Signature Series Cabernet Franc Icewine, $80- Red fruit nose and flavor. Excellent. 93

Peller Estates was one of the better wineries we've visited in the region. We avoided tasting their lower end wines due to time constraints, and also because we had no interest in them.
