| We visited the winery 12 days ago for a tasting and also had lunch here. The food was better than the wine. The tasting room was staffed with young help, not too knowledgeable but very eager to be helpful. The wines:
2003 Reserve Riesling, 12.5% alcohol, $26- Pear nose, a little flat, 80
2003 Barrel Reserve Chardonnay, 13% alcohol, $18- Oak and tropical fruit nose, sharp, 82
2001 Barrel Reserve Merlot, 12.8% alcohol, $24- Pepper and spice nose, young, promising, 85
2001 Meritage, 13.2% alcohol, $26- Light nose of wet earth, sharp, OK, 83
2002 Barrel Reserve Cabernet Franc, 13.5% alcohol, $24- Fruit pie nose, ready, smooth, 84
nv Raspberry Splash, 12% alcohol, grape wine fermented with raspberries- Simple raspberry punch, 78 as wine, 82 as punch
2002 Cabernet Franc Icewine, 13% alcohol, $50- Fishy nose, sweet, needs more acidity, horrible QPR, probably the worst Cabernet Franc icewine I've ever had, but still a good solid wine, just a little cloying, 87
2002 Riesling Icewine, 12% alcohol, $50- Mineral, honeyed raisin nose, sweet, a little light on acidity, one of the poorer examples of Rielsing icewine, but still a very good wine that lags behind the better wineries' offerings, 89 | | | |
