WS 89; Winetex 89-90; $33

This is an interesting wine. It’s not a weak Oregon Pinot by any means. The nose had cherries and a wild spice. One of the reviews called it “ginger bread” and this is a very good description. I’ve never had a Pinot that had quite the range of spices that this one had. It had a long, aromatic finish with the very same spices. This one is different but interesting. Without having tasted it before opening it I had trouble with a food match. Now I know to balance out the spices.

It was well-balanced and had medium acidity so I don’t think this is a keeper for very long. One to two years max.

On to the "Shea" and the "Seven Springs" from this winery.

I have one bottle of the 2000 Shea. I'd be very interested in your notes.

I just picked up a couple of bottles of the Seven Springs, so JB and I both await your verdict.

I'm somewhat loathe to drink these wines as they clearly will benefit from bottle time. On the other hand, if I wait to try one I won't be able to buy any more. The Shea is probably next. Parker indicates that the Seven Springs' window is 2005-2012 so I might wait on that one.

ohhh.. NO, DON'T WAIT!!!! Inquiring minds want to know!!! I only have 3 of the 7Springs and 6 of the Shea so I was willing to drink the Shea (in general the earlier drinking of the two). Like you, I am loathe to open a young 7Springs.
