This is the 4th time I’ve had the pleasure of this wine.
Dark, rich ruby color. On the nose there is ripe plum, cherry, vanilla and sweet cedar. Nicely aromatic. Complex flavors on the palate of ripe cherry, blackberry, crushed violets and a touch of raspberry. Excellent silky smooth mouth feel. The finish is long, ripe and delicious. Beautifully balanced. This wine gets better every time I open one. 92 pts

cheers,

I appreciate the notes, paulie. I haven't had the pleasure of the '00, but I thought the '01 was excellent when we tasted it at the winery. Harvey Steiman gave the '01 a 73. My wife and I gave it a 90. Go figure.

Upon re-reading the winery's past vintages notes, I remember being excited about this wine by it's elegant cherry flavors. Now, the flavors have matured to a little black cherry, but mainly ripe plum. Because of the acidity and tannins, this wine isn't overwhelmingly sweet which makes it more food friendly. Still there is the flavor of stewed prunes. Wine remains nicely balanced and finishes smoothly.
