I opened this bottle with my mom to see if it had anything left. You could say that I was more than surprised.

One of the best bottles of Pinot noir I have ever had in my life. Tonight is the eve of my 20th birthday and what a present this was.

Ruby colored, nose of bramble blackberries, currants and truffles. Beautiful texture with tannins still present and nice crisp acidity. Lovely, incredible. The way Pinot noir should be made. The way that I will make Pinot noir.

I have 11 bottles of this wine left and I will hold a couple to try at 30 years. This was mind blowing.

I remember finding out how old James was. I was in Red Hills Provincial Dining in Dundee and had just offered him some 1997 Ferrari-Carano Tresor.

1983 was an incredible vintage, and your dad was a hell of a winemaker. I'm surprised that the wine held up, but not that surprised. Happy Birthday!
