In interest of full disclosure, Bill Hatcher, one of the proprietors, is a friend of mine.

There were 6,000+ cases of this wine produced and it's available in 33 states. At my local wine shop (I get no special deals on this wine) I paid $14/bottle for a case.

Clear deep garnet color. Cherries, black cherries, and blackberries in the nose. Cherries and berries continue on the palate, turning sweeter right at the end. Good concentration, structure, and length. Mild tannins are evident, but they don't get in the way of the fruit at all. This reminds me of DDO, except it costs less than half as much. 89-90 points

I have only had the 2001. I like what Bill is doing, it's good for Oregon. Of course it's a mystery wine, nobody is supposed to know where the wine has come from but if you ask me I am willing to wager there is a good amount of Archery Summit in there. I would be surprised if he got any Domaine Drouhin barrels, I don't see why they would sell any. Carlo & Julian is folding due to a divorce as is Dundee Springs. Both of these wineries are selling barrels.

I agree with you that what Bill is doing is good for Oregon. If he keeps making this quality wine at these kinds of prices, it will be great for Oregon.

I've got to think that anyone who doesn't make a low end wine must have some barrels of wine or sale occasionally. Sometimes a barrel or two (sometimes more) just doesn't fit into the blend very well. DDO, Archery Summit and Domaine Serene would all fit that profile, along with a bunch of other wineries as well. I know that DDO occasionally sells excess bulk wine, but I can't say where.

The only wine that I know for sure is included in the A to Z blend is a barrel or two of Bill's wine that didn't fit the blend for his Hatcher label.
