This wine comes from a section of the Abbey Ridge vineyard where the grapes are "only" 16 years old, so they don't make the cut for the standard Abbey Ridge bottling. The vines are a collection of clones used in the Clos Electric vineyard - a mixture of suitcase clones from California and France. Any Clos Electric that doesn't make the cut for the vineyard designated wine goes in here as well. $16 with a case discount.

Deep garnet color. Spicy cherry, sandalwood, earth, and barnyard nose. More of the same on the palate, with firm acidity, and a very nice finish. The fruit flavors take a back seat to the other things going on in the glass, and I will be curious to see if the fruit resurfaces or not. 87 points for now, but could go higher if the fruit comes back.
