| Please understand that I adored the 2001 vintage with its intense bouquet of rose petal and violets which reverberated throughout the wine. The 2002 is far less intense on bouquet, but more opulent in its flavor, probably reflecting grapes picked at greater ripeness. It seems a sweeter wine, with a longer finsh and overall balance. 88

| I'm happy to see those notes, Dick. We're having dinner with a group of people including Harry Petersen-Nedry a week from tomorrow and will go to Chehalem for a tasting the following day. | | | |

| I have a notebook with me and will record all the wines I taste. Needless to say, there will be just a few words and a numerical score for each. I will post in segments when I return. | | | |

$16; Winetex 89 points
A bit shy on the nose with white flowers and grapefruit. It picked up some melon with the grapefruit in the middle and finished with spices and minerals. It is a well-made wine with balance and a nice creamy texture.
14.6% alcohol
I noticed that Winex and K&L had this for under $13. It's a buy at that price.

| TBird, you did well. My notes from tasting at the winery on July 30th:
2002 Chehalem Pinot Gris: Done in stainless steel. Tropical fruit nose. Viscous. Rich. 90
2001 Chehalem Pinot Gris Reserve: Barrel fermented using neutral oak. Pineapple, kiwi nose. Creamy. 91
2000 Rion Reserve Pinot Noir: Ready. Rich. Complex. 92
All the Chehalem notes I took can be found by doing a Chehalem search.
