2007 J.K. Carriere Pinot Noir Glass - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (5/12/2008) WIML86 Tasted May 12, 2008. No formal notes, just popped and poured. Light rose color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of bubble gum dominates up front with some added notes of strawberries. Flavors of strawberries, raspberries and either banana or passion fruit towards the finish. Acidity is too high, finish is clunky. This is a definitely step down from the 2006 vintage in my opinion. Drink now. (86 pts.) I forgot to mention in the tasting note that at first sip I received some strong notes of sweet tarts.

I'm sipping a second bottle of this right now. Profile is pretty much dead on with the first bottle with the exception of the sweet tarts out of the gate. Maybe it's settling in a little after a short rest in the cellar (after all, we are talking about a Rose here) but it's still a solid step or more behind the 2006 vintage which I rated in the 89-91 range at the winery last June. Maybe by the end of this June it'll perk up a little. I'm hopeful. FWIW.
