2002 St. Innocent Pinot Noir Seven Springs - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (6/10/2007)
Not Decanted. First sip right out of the bottle had great red fruit and a suprisingly firm tannic base. While quite drinkable, I found that the wine's flavor profile improved considerably over the 4 hour drinking window, although the aromas diminished considerably as well. Great balance and crispness, good acidity, not really any of the cola found in many PNs(a plus in my book) all-in-all a great PN. My first SI, and certainly not my last. (93 pts.)

We're in general agreement on this one. Here are my notes from January:

Beautiful, complex, changing nose showing an unusual not unpleasant aroma that blew off with swirling to reveal red fruits, minerals (an iron smell?), spices with oak in check. Medium weight on palate with fruit, minerals and decent acidity showing and tannins needing to resolve further. Shows well now but tannins need to subside. A low 90s wine easily. Hold for several more years. A definite repurchase.
