| | I haven't had one of Ken's wines for probably a year, so my first impression was that the bottle was very heavy - probably better suited for clubbing baby seals than storing wine. The second thing I noticed on the label was the alcohol - 15.5%. Oh boy. The nose was dominated by molasses, with a little pie cherry drifting in every now and then. On the palate I noticed more brown sugar, cherries, oak, and alcohol. I was pleased that the alcohol hadn't totally taken over, but I was disappointed that the fruit was so much in the background, as the molasses aromas and flavors were very much in the forefront. The oak became more prevalent as time went on. The good news is that I opened up room for another magnum. The bad news is that I have a couple more bottles of this wine. | | Heater Allen Brewing
