| | 2004 Bethel Heights Pinot Noir Southeast Block Reserve - Tasted at the NOWFE Oregon Pinot Noir seminar. Darker color than several of the others, but with somewhat cloudy color througout. Also has darker fruit on the nose... full of black cherry, plum, and blackberry. Love the nose, but didn't deliver as much on the palate. Fresh acidity blended nicely with somewhat sweet tannin. There is a slight bitter/green streak that peeks through here and there. Much lighter fruit than what shows on the nose. Cherry is prominent, but only on first taste. Texture is silky smooth, but that doesn't compensate for the completely hollow midpalate that is simply devoid of all flavor. Might go well with very light dishes, but not strong enough to stand up to anything with flavor or be drunk on its own.88 points | | | |
