2004 Penner-Ash Pinot Noir - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (6/30/2006)WIML91,PURPLE92,NOWA,NOWS
Tasted June 30, 2006 at a retail tasting. Opened and served immediately in a Riedel tasting glass. Dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of roasted coffee beans, black cherries, cardamom and a little leather. Flavors of black cherries, black berries, a smidge of mint, a little bitters with some strawberry and raspberry notes. Light to medium acidity, medium tannins. Medium bodied. I’d recommend holding this wine at least a year or two before trying again. Based on the local retail price of $46.74 I’d say the value here is agreeable. Personal note: this is certainly a good wine and well made but it is note a wine I personally enjoy.
