2003 Auteur Pinot Noir. Hyland Vineyard, Willamette Valley, Oregon. 14.3% alcohol. $45. 144 cases made.
Light, translucent black cherry. Deft aromas of cherry, some earth, light toasty oak, mint, and a bit of vanilla. Good length and acidity with light tannin. Light to medium bodied with round and smooth flavors of cherry and oak. Quite Burgundian in profile. Hyland Vineyard is a south facing hillside plot that is cropped to yield 1.6 tons per acre. It is planted with Pommard and Coury clones. Drink now (2008) to 2011. 88 points.
