| 2003 Sine Qua Non Pinot Noir “Omega”. Shea Vineyard, Willamette Valley, Oregon. 15.5% alcohol. $75. 640 cases made. Deep purple-red hued wine with thick almost colorless legs. Dark but sexy and lush aromas of sweet cherries and earth, black licorice, some heat, and oak with a bit of stone. Mouthcoating, velvety fruit buttressed by barely adequate acidity and camouflaged tannin – the tannin really builds over time. Sadly, the 2003 “Omega” will be the Krankl’s last Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir. Already a (slightly vapid) head turner, drink now (2009) to 2012. 92+ points. | | |

| At a dinner with good friends in New York, this was one of the wines of the evening... we dubbed it "the slut", as it is holding nothing back. The only thing I would add is that there is a definite aroma of cotton candy.
I rated it somewhat higher , but I have a weakness for sluts

| 2003 Sine Qua Non Pinot Noir Omega - USA, Oregon, Yamhill County (5/19/2007) WIML93+,WA93,NOWS
Tasted May 19, 2007 at an offline. Opened and served immediately. Garnet color in the glass, slightly dusty looking in the glass. Nose black berries, cherries, plums and a little bacon fat. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and a little black licorice. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Good balance and structure overall. I’d recommend holding a little longer. Just a smidge behind the last time I tasted this wine. (93 pts.) | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone.

| This wine did very little for me. When I smell that "cotton candy" or "cherry cough syrup" smell in Pinot it's game over these days. It might have been 91 points but I take off at least a full point when the wine is out of balance and hot on the finish. So 90 points from me. Clearly I've gone to the Burgundy dark side.
Already a (slightly vapid) head turner Now that's pretty funny
