| | It had a beautiful deep nose of cherries and ripe berries without the floral notes often found in California Pinot Noirs. On the palate, the wine is concentrated and forward with juicy flavors of tart raspberries. Still a little young, this will certainly get better with more age. 90 at this young stage, with a potential of maybe 93. I highly recommend it. | | | |

| I have a couple of TNs on this wine as well. I prefer the 2002 to the 2003 but it is strictly stylistic. Both are quality Pinots.
- 2003 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir Black Hole Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Parrett Mountain (8/27/2005)
The 2003 is different from the 2002 in that it has more dark fruit flavors in addition to a darker color. It is more like a CA power Pinot Noir in character but without the alcohol that detracts from many of those Pinots. (91 pts.)
- 2003 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir Black Hole Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley, Parrett Mountain (7/1/2005)
Actually a 91+. Tasted from a pre-release bottle and still very young. (91 pts.)

| | After tasting each of them once, admittedly in their infancy, I think I prefer the 2003. | | | |

| All,
Please don't misconstrue this as an attempt to "plug" my wine, as that is definitely NOT my goal. Just info only:
It seems to me that the 2003 is now "ready". It is clearly at the front-end of its drinking window, and I expect that it will continue to develop. But it has turned into "adult wine" at this stage. The pieces are knitting together, and in some of my more recent tastings, a nice sort-of toffee or creme brulee (carmelized sugar) tone has developed on the finish.
But this remains a "solid" wine-- not one to be paired with chicken or fish. The best combo I've had to date is courtesy of a Baltimore off-line where the chef prepared venison in a reduction sauce. This combo was just great!

| Tom, No reason to apologize/clarify. I don’t think anyone who participates much here are on any of the wine boards that you participate in feels that you are just pimping your juice. Input from the winemakers is wanted and is greatly appreciated. Brian Loring is all over the wine forums and Adam Lee and others participate often. In fact, I think we would all prefer winemakers comment more on their wines like you do. It’s great knowledge to hear you describe your wines.
Does it help sell your wine? No doubt that it does, but I wouldn’t have found out about your great wine otherwise and I’m thankful that you are here.

| GD,
Thanks, I appreciate the support.
Still, I think it is one thing for a winemaker to participate in the forums--- providing information and opinions on various topics--- and quite another to talk about their own wine... especially when the opinion is unsolicited. Of course, the third level of dialog would be actually promoting the wine (other than, for example, to provide the information that a vintage has been released, or similar, which seems both helpful and harmless).
At a minimum, I think it is wise to make sure that anyone reading the post understands that, in this case, Le Cadeau is our wine, and that the comments naturally have the perspective and insight of the brand owner, as well as all the attendant biases.
So, at the risk of beating this topic to death, I guess my protocol is this:
1) General wine conversations, or dialog about other's wines-- green light. 2) General information about one's own wine-- availability, drinking windows, or responding to specific questions-- green light, trending toward yellow, and disclosure as winemaker is adviseable. 3) Promoting or recommending one's wine, NOT in response to another poster's request-- red light.

| 2003 Le Cadeau Black Hole Vineyard Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley, Oregon Decanted 3 hr’s. Dark cherry nose with just a faint hint of earth. Predominately bright dark cherry flavors with a little cinnamon and a touch of citrus spice on the edges. Good, light acidity throughout, this picks up some darker fruit and minerals at the mid-palate which increase nicely towards the hazelnut infused lifting & lithe finish. Although it can be enjoyed now with several hours decant time, this picks up significant weight and depth as the evening progresses. Recommend cellaring a few more years. S91 3/19/2006 | | | |

| 3/11/2006 rated 91 points: Wow, this has opened up and filled out nicely over the last two months. Tons of black cherry and black raspberries, with a wonderful spiciness and earthiness leading to a drawn out, spice and earth finish. A brilliant effort, time to reorder soon.

| 2003 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir - Willamette Valley, Oregon Atlanta Off-line (Bone's Restaurant, Atlanta, GA): Decanted 2 hr’s. Like the ’02, my notes are similar as before of dark cherry and cinnamon spice but it has certainly become better integrated than my previous tasting and next to the ’02, the riper fruit is more noticeable. The nose was also a bit shy than from before. S91 9/15/2006 | | | |

| | Opened on 9/23. My first Le Cadeau but I drink an awful lot of Oregon pinot. Silky mouthfeel, sweet cranberry tinged red plum fruit character, layered mid-palate, long graceful finish. Without a doubt, the nicest '03 I have had yet. I'm a fan. | | | |

| 2003 Le Cadeau Pinot Noir - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (6/19/2007) WIML91,NOWA,WS??
Tasted June 19, 2007 at the Dundee Bistro. Opened and served immediately. Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of sandalwood, potpourri, a touch of Kirsch and a dash of earth towards the finish. Slightly “dusty” overall. Flavors of Bing cherries, red berries and a touch of bitters and a dash of tart raspberries on the medium finish. Light to medium acidity, tannins and body. Drink or hold. | | Popped and poured a glass. Initially it seemed out of balance. Tart cherry, cranberry, with hints of earth and spice. A bit of alcohol and acid coming thorough that intensified the tartness. I let it sit for about 30 minutes and then it started to come together. After about an hour it was really singing. The nose was still cranberry and cherry, but the spice and earth seemed more integrated. Great feel with everything coming together. Wish I wouldn't have touched for at least an hour after opening. I will hold my last bottle for at least a year.

| | Picking up my '06 LC wines, Tom and Deb opened a bottle of the '03 for us yesterday. I didn't take notes, but this wine had a rich, dark nose, with good amounts of cinnamon and clove. Palate was fresh and bright; plenty of acidity, spice, and some moderate tannin. Finish was longer and more luscious than the initial mouthfeel and palate would suggest. As this warmed up a bit, a touch of heat emerged (not surprising for an Oregon '03), but given the strong spice notes, it was less obtrusive than it might have otherwise been. An excellent wine with plenty of life in it. | | | |
