2000 Antica Terra Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Dark ruby purple colour….no enzymes in Oregon?…..hrumph, whatever.
Very nice nose of earth and underbrush and good old stinky pinot. I see a trend here, many Oregon pinots smell a lot like burgundy. This one has a good chunk of red fruit aroma on the nose too. Notes of older oak showing too. Of the last several Oregon pinots I have tasted, the nose is perhaps the most outstanding feature. Not a bad thing.
Sweet, bright attack with vibrant tart cherry flavours. Very light on the palate, acidity keeps things very fresh but a little too much tang for my palate.
I think this might resolve in a few years, others might like it this way right now. A little mineral too, but not a lot.
I probably should have opened one of my 1999’s instead.
This is an expression of elegance and refinement, but it could use a little more voluptuous and sensual texture IMHO.

Cathy sez…it’s ‘skinny’ not as good as the DDO Laurene. I agree, a bit more meat on the bones would be a really good thing here. Might have been the food pairing, stir fry beef with snap peas, might have been better with salmon.
