Well, the first of these was very good, but the second disappointing. The third and last bottleis the tiebreaker. Well, this might be somewhat oxidized, but 2 of 3 Carter 2002 KW 's have been disappointing now.

Medium bodied with nice raspberry-cherry and mocha covered with earth, this wine had a balsamic like overtone that never went away. Not cooked but almost like something went on in the vat. 2nd bottle of 3 Carter's that didn't meet expectation.

Curious if any one else has been disappointed in the Carter

I tried this from barrel 22 months ago and thought it was delicious. It's possible the wine is closed. OR PNs seem to me to need a lot more age than those of CA.

Maybe someone peed in the barrel. There is some bottle inconsistency, with 2 of 3 bottles less than delicious.

I just noticed on the WS that this received an 85 by whomever rates their Oregon PN these days. Based on tonight, I can't disagree.

I have 2 Freedom Hills left. The one I had earlier was a 90 pt wine. At ~50.00 a pop, I must say the return on equity for me on this vintners wines in 2002, supposedly a banner vintage, has not been high.
