• 2003 Chehalem Pinot Gris - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (3/28/2005)
  Purchased for $17 at Long's Drugs in Kihei. After enjoying previous vintages of this wine, I was disappointed in this bottle. It showed toasty coconut and pear flavors, but finished very hot. I was hoping for a little more crispness. One glass was enough for me. My wife did tell me that it was drinking much better 2 days later (perhaps because some of the alcohol had integrated or evaporated). (84 pts.)

Otis, try the Reserve and decant it for a half hour before tasting. It's not much more expensive than the regular bottling and worth it. The 2003 vintage isn't as good as the 2002.
