| this wine was recommended by gary and ian of the wine library. they suggested i decant an hour before drinking. i didn't have the time, so i drank the wine over two nights and compared. i paid about $42 for the bottle. 13.5% alcohol
dark ruby, with a subtle nose of wild cherries and earth. medium to full bodied, with good balance and structure, but very muted flavors of red fruit and oak. some soft tannins and a mild finish. first night, me87. second night it opened and flavors were more discernable, m88+. this wine may improve over time, but it is too much money to take the gamble.
btw, i keep telling myself to stop buying more expensive wines that i know nothing about and they are hawking. i have not done it in awhile, but i succumbed last week. the 2001 melville estate at half the price was alot better. | | | |
