| - 2001 Rockblock Syrah Seven Hills Vineyard - Walla Walla Valley, Oregon, USA (8/10/2004)
This is a label I had not heard of before it was recommended to me. From the label, "The Seven Hills Vineyard is located in the Walla Walla Valley Appellation in Northeastern Oregon. Planted to Phelps clone syrah...Rockblock Syrah is a collaboration of Domaine Serene's owners, Ken and Grace Evvenstad and their winemaker Tony Rynders."
Decanted about 45 minutes, this wine had a nose of limestone, chalk and vanilla. In the middle there was extremely pure fruit of raspberries, vanilla and spice with a long, aromatic finish. There is quite a bit of minerality in this wine which is something I really enjoy in wines.
14.1 % alcohol but this seems a touch low. Another year in the bottle would really bring this one together. About ~ $38. (90 pts.) Posted from CellarTracker! | | |
