Tasted at a Pinot Noir Tasting on 7/22/04
Our tasting departed CA for two OR wines from Beaux Freres. It is such a cliché but stylistically these OR wines are more like Burgundies than the CA wines we were tasting. This wine had structure and balance including acidity. The flavors were black cherry and plum along with a spicy cinnamon note throughout the wine to the finish. There was an earthy component to the wine. A very good wine with some short-term aging potential.
At this price point I would not purchase this wine. BF is making good wine but their pricing is crazy. | | |

| I had one Friday night at a wine tasting in Memphis. It was put in direct competition with a 2001 Martinelli-Zio Tony Pinot @ $50 and all agreed that the Martinelli was considerably better and much cheaper. | | | |

| - 2001 Beaux Frères Pinot Noir Beaux Frères Vineyard - USA, Oregon, Yamhill County, Willamette Valley (12/26/2005)
Decanted and allowed to sit for 2 hrs. Lighter in appearance than many pinots, with few scents discernable. Extremely light and smooth, and while tanins do not appear to be overpowering, fruit flavors are lacking a presence at a desired level. Not sure to what extent fruit is hiding behind the tanins (most likely) or just not there. Still quite nice, but I've had many pinots for less that may be more cherry-flavored today than I'd like, but are much better values. This was $65, and may be worth it down the road. (91 pts.)
