| '00 Carabella Pinot Noir Willamette Valley $28
Decanted 2.5 hours, but the wine continued to open up a bit over the next 1.5 hours of tasting. Mrs. J says let it decant another hour or so and I concur.
Color of medium/light, clear bing cherry. Tons of thin long legs. The nose consisted of subtle light toasted oak, fresh cherry, and vine ripened raspberry all of which follow through on the palate. Taste continues with just a hint of vanilla which complements the cherry/raspberry flavors nicely. Nice, smooth, velvety tannins lead into a long, lingering finish which lasted a full 2 minutes. Very nice now and has the structure to cellar 3-4 years. Jer's rating: 91. | | | |
