| This wine is made from an old (25+ years) patch of the 108 clone chardonnay high in the Dundee Hills. The grapes went to Eyrie before Cameron got them, and the wines from this vineyard have always been relatively long lived (a 1983 Eyrie was still showing well in 2003).
This wine starts with citrus, apples, pears, figs and a little toast in the nose. The citrus comes to the fore on the palate while the other flavors are still evident in the background. A nice dose of acidity holds everything together through the mid-palate to a nice long finish. Toward the finish a little bit of oak shows itself as well (a year and a half ago the oak was much more prevalent). A very nice melding of French and Californian chardonnay styles. Drink 2005 - 2010. 92 points. | | Heater Allen Brewing

| | I opened another bottle of this a couple of nights ago. This wine is now really singing. The oak is totally out of the way, and the fruit aroma and flavors are all still there. I'll probably drink the rest of this over the next few years. | | Heater Allen Brewing
