This wine starts with a nose of blackberries/raspberries, but quickly changes to a monolithic dose of black cherries. Concentrated black cherries continue on the palate through to a very long black cherry and white pepper finish. The wine has a very nice mouth-feel and great balance, but I’d like to see more complexity. Drink now to 2008. 89 points.

A wonderful wine when you're craving fruit. I was greatly surprised at how intense the wine still is. Big flavors of black cherry and blackberry with a hint of spice and earth. Will definitely be asking around if this wine would benefit with a couple of more years in the cellar because I'm not sure what will happen when the fruit fades and the wine softens.

I think that monolithic character is from the vineyard, I've found it in every wine I've tried that was made from Brick House fruit. For my tastes even the low-end 1999 Cameron Arley's Leap (declassified Abbey Ridge) was/is a better wine.

BTW, the label is hilarious -- Brick House is organically farmed, and I guess John Paul wanted to have some fun with that. Look at the lions...

John is a friend of mine, and I love all of his wines. Even his non-vintage stuff is top-notch. His does have a great sense of humor. I especially like his Rose label featuring Che Guevera. The name? Vino Pinko, of course!

I'm a Cameroni fan.
I laugh when people search for it in the Italian section.
