With Copper River king salmon. Great match. Black cherry, cloves and a hint of vanilla. 13.7% alcohol. Most of the grapes form the Eola Hills area. Wood very much out of the picture, inspite of 17 months in 2/3rds new french oak. Great finish and mouth feel. A winner. WS (Harvey) gave it a 90. He got one right. If you have it, it's time has come.

We tasted the '00 at the winery and I thought it needed time:

Board O, I agree that Cristom's wines need time. I'm sitting on 5 bottles of their 1999 Salud! Cuvee and probably won't drink another one for at least another year.

When I ask winemakers here who they think is the best winemaker in the state they almost always say Steve Doerner.

Thanks for the TN - 2 years ago, we had a bottle of this on the weekend of our engagement at Ray's Boathouse in Seattle with Copper River salmon. It was a fantastic match.

We drank most of our 99 Cristom Reserve in the last two years. It is gone but will not be forgotten. Wonderful wine with Salmon.

CT's drinkability mentions up to 2013.
I can't predict this kind of window since I'm drinking a 375 ml. Still, there is a nice depth to this wine. Nice aromas of black cherry, black berry, and mushroom flavors. Ripe black cherry flavors with a little citrus zest on finish.
