| Dark hued ruby brick oragne color. On the nose there is very aromatic dried berry, mushroom and wet earth. Jumps right out of the glass. Complex and mulit-layered. On the palate is complex dried cherry, strawberry with a touch of asian spice. Long and complex finish with the fruit flavors melting gently away. The finish goes on for almost a complete minute. No decay. Amazing for a 21 year old Oregon Pinot Noir to have this much life left in it. This is a certified WOW ! This is the best Oregon Pinot Noir I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. ...........98 solid points.........classic in every way.

| | James already did a TN on thishere . 1983 was the first really good year in Oregon. Before then we had seen good bottles from producers but not a great vintage. Adelsheim, Arterberry, Erath, Eyrie, Sokol Blosser, and Yamhill Valley Vineyards all made very good wines that year. I drank my last ones about ten years ago and at that time the Sokol Blosser and Adelsheim had faded badly, the Erath was inconsistent, the Yamhill was starting to turn, and the Eyrie was still going strong. I had the Eyrie at my 50th birthday a year ago and was very good. I didn't own any of the Arterberry, but it's nice to hear that it survived. Fred was a very good winemaker. | | Heater Allen Brewing

| | I just picked up a bottle of the '83 SB at auction -- it was very cheap. I'm not expecting anything from it, so there's nothing but upside, eh? I'll give it a month or so to recover from its travels, and I'll TN it here... | | | |
