I opened this bottle last night to have with salmon. I know there are a few Patty Green fans on this board, so I thought I'd take one for the team.

Patricia Green 2002 Pinot Noir Shea Vineyard ($30)

Deep ruby with a tinge of purple. The wine was decanted for 30 minutes, and continued to improve with airtime. Aromas of mushrooms, bright red berries and slight hint of forest pines on the nose. Well balanced and medium-bodied. Still primary, but the most elegant Patty Green Pinot I've had to date. Needs time. 89+ points.

I don't know what everyone else thinks, but I feel like these wines need a good 1-2 years before really starting to open up. The 2000 Estate I had last year was fantastic (my last of 3 bottles), and I feel like these wines are on track to being very good wines.

Who's tagline was it "Don't drink all the puppies or there won't be any big dogs later?" Sounds right to me.

That would be Freud's mantra. Glad you liked the Patty Green.

Jaime,

My wife and I opened an '01 Patricia Green Shea last week.
We aerated for 2 hours before dinner. It was what an Oregon pinot should taste like...very elegant with a great finish. I'm not sure if the '01 will get any better over the next couple of years. After reading your notes I'm going to get some of the '02.
