Purple/black, absolutely opaque, even in good incadescent light. Slow fat legs. Extremely ripe blackberry black cherry, rasberry nose with some smoke and spice initially. With 2 hours decanter and an hour of in the glass, shows some cedar and earth notes. The nose from first pour to dinner is pretty gripping, very gripping, there is a lot going on here. On the palate though it is still fairly closed. There is good fruit here, but it is hiding still, should have decanted at least 4 hours. Medium bodied with excellent balance and a long full finish. Has all the attibutes of a great wine, but just isn't showing wide open at present. 93+ points.

I had this while vacationing in Arizona back in Sept '03. I agree with your TNs, 93points. But, it was a bit more approachable for me. I decanted for 1+ hours. After that, it was a go. May be I caught it @ the right time.

Very good bottle of vino, indeed. I had it with pheasant (if I recall). Not sure though.

I had this Friday night with a marvelous filet mignon at Apartment 2G in Front Royal, VA. It was on the wine list for $64, and I couldn't pass that up.

I asked our server to open the bottle when we ordered, so it had about an hour in the glass before our steaks arrived. The wine was a deep, inky hue with long, slow legs. Nose was gravelly with little fruit apparent. On the palate, this was silky, elegant, and dominated by cassis and blackberry. I would agree with Stealthman that the wine did not seem to be showing everything. The WS tasting window is listed as 2000-2005. I'm not sure if the wine is still closed, or already slightly past its peak.

Still a very nice wine, especially at that price. My wife, who is not typcially a red wine drinker, said it was the best she had tasted. I give it 91-92 points.

Gary... Parker apparantly says 2003-2015, so you're in the front end of the window.

Patience, grasshopper!!!

there are quite a few notes for this in cellartracker. the general concensus is it needs a lot more time. when it comes to qc, pay absolutely no attention to ws or harvey steinman, he is brain dead on this wine for some reason.
