| This was an interesting wine. The last Leonetti I had was serverely oaked and this was nowhere near that (last wine was a 2000 or 1999 merlot).
I decanted this wine and there was heavy sediment on the down side of the bottle (i.e. the side ot the bottle which was laid down). I drank this out of a Riedel Sommelier Bordeaux glass. I picked this bottle out of my cellar this evening so it was not standing up (as per board-o :-( I had this with a Porthouse steak that was cooked medium rare.
On opening this wine was showing some cherry on the nose. For the next hour or so the wine is quite drinkable (especially with the steak :-). After 1.5 hours the oak is starting to assert itself early on this did not show itself (thankfully). Seems to have good acidity and mouthpuckering tanins (I don't have any more steak fat to cut things). I think I have another one of these and I wouldn't open it for about five years if I'm jst going to drink this by itself. With a steak I'd give this about a year and then glug it down. | | | |

| Johnny B, Swill, Brix (he's on the Leonetti list) and I had this a month ago. Paired it with Buffalo tenderloin. My initial impression was that it tasted like a classic napa cab, deep fruit, firm tannins. VGS (91+). I'd venture to say hold for another year or 2. | | | |

| | Decanted and consumption began 30 minutes after. Red ruby coloration and a medium full body. Initial oak nose with bing cherries and wild strawberries. With time in the glass and decanter the nose turned more Bordeaux with kirsch liqour, red raspberry, graphite, a fine amount of earthy nuance, mushrooms, and delicate oak. Bracing acidity upon the finish with smooth tannin, there is plenty of fruit to allow another 4-7 years of cellering. Very nice 93 points. | | | |
