Popped and poured. Still has a dark purple/ruby color but the rim is moving more towards garnet. Nose redolent of oak aromas - coconut, vanilla extract, hints of spice. Medium bodied, quite mellow in the mouth. Interesting flavors...almost reminded me of the 2002 Pride Merlot sans fruit, with dark chocolate, expresso, dill and bay leaf. Little fruit at first but after an hour it opened to show some black fruits, melted licorice and green bell pepper. Smooth, velvety tannins disappear on the oaky finish. Has probably reached it's apogee.
Considering that this was 3 times less the price of Pride Merlot I would say this wine provides excellent QPR. Vine 91.
