| - 2002 Columbia Crest Walter Clore Private Reserve - USA, Washington, Columbia Valley (9/3/2005)
Initially pretty closed up, but as it warmed from cellar to room temp it opened to some nice raspberry, cassis, a bit of clove. Fairly restrained fruit overall. A good smack of tannins with a hint of green, but a good bit of oak tannin as well. This drinks more like a lower tier bordeaux than a typical washington blend. I find it solid and worth the tariff to lay a couple of these down for 2-3 years. (90 pts.)

WS 93 points. Holly Moses, that's a lot of pts.
Nice little bottle of wine, pleasant, smooth, enjoyable enough. Good with food, & good by itself. It's kind of plain & very straight forward. And, I agree with smaug, drink now or over the next 2-3 years. It provides a good value for the money.
Rating: 87 points, drink or hold. And, a very nice bottle for those non-wino events. | | | |
