Purchased off WB. Into the neck fill, but cork had oozed a drop sometime in the life of this bottle. Nearly opaque red/purple in color, if you consider crimson at the rim a sign of age, well that was it...
A distinct example of why this wine had, at least at one time, a reputation as reminiscent of Margaux. While I wouldn't say it reminded me of Chateau Margaux, it reminded me more of maybe a Giscours that hadn't quite opened yet. Pretty French, but definately not Pauillac. Roasted nuts, black cherry, kirschy on the nose, full bodied, lots of black and red cherry, a full long finish, but just seeming like it hadn't blossomed yet. 92 pts. With good provenance, easily in need of 5 more years.

edited so my spelling makes me look less dumber...

Well there were no blueberries, none, but I don't expect my '00 Lynch Bages to show the blueberry it showed young at 15 years either. Tannins were integrated, but by no means resolved. The question I think everyone wants answered, but at least for me, has yet to be answered, is will the Quilceda wines blossom after the long slumber that they seem to beg for or will they just fade away. The key similarity the wine showed to recent releases was the color and concentration. It looked and felt in the mouth like the Quilcedas we know from late.
I've had the regular 1989 Quilceda bottling and found it very tired. Possibly storage related, but very tired anyway.
