| I have had the 1995 Col Solare in the past and was not very impressed, especially given the price. However, I got a good deal on a few bottles of the '99 and decided to give Col Solare another try. Boy, I'm glad that I did.
A dark, ruby colored wine that exhibits aromas of berries, vanilla and a slight earthiness The wine is intense and juicy and has berries, cherry and spice on the palate. The tannins are soft but the wine still has some muscle to allow some aging. Wonderful now and will probably last another five years easily. 92 pts. | | | |

| | I am happy you enjoyed it. I tasted it recently and found it to be bitter, astringent and unpleasant. | | | |

| Isn't this a Washington state wine? If so, could a moderator move this to the right forum.
If not, shame on me! | | | |

| | It is Ch. Michelle and Antinori, so I think you are correct that it is from Wash. I did not even think about that when I replied. | | | |

| | Never had the 95, but I have1996-99 Col Solare and so far have favored the 1998 over the others. 1996 was good as well. | | The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has it's limits... ps - friends don't let friends eat farmed salmon. | |

| | We tasted the 1997, 1998, and 1999 at the winery in July, 2003. The 1999 and 1998 I scored a 90, and the 1997 an 88. I felt the 1999 had the backbone to improve for years. | | | |
