On the wine list at Lark - nice restaurant in Seattle, $50.

This wine REALLY needs an hour to open up. Swirled it for a bit, let it sit for 15 minutes and it had a strong punch, faded to an almost watered down taste then had a medium finish. Rather bizarre experience. We let the wine sit for about an hour and it was a completely different wine. Wonderful nose and intense flavors, little less of a finish. For a $50 wine list bottle, I was moderately impressed. I'd rate at 89.

Drew - what did you think of Lark? Have not heard great things about it but will probably give it a try sometime soon.

Lark is a little on the pricey side. Ambiance is great and I have to say the service was fantastic. The food was good, but I've never been a big fan of the Tapas/3 bites and you're done with the plate servings at some of these trendy places. One cool thing about the menu is that it's arranged top to bottom by portion size. The cheese courses were great, but again, you're paying $5 for 3 small slices of cheese (stress small). Food was very fresh and the dessert was really, really good. Final bill, including wine and tip was $140 for two people. Know that I could have easily eaten another $50 worth of food.

I probably won't go back again unless I'm expensing, but that's just because there are a million other places to try in Seattle (as I look out at Safeco, ironically). It's a nice restaurant and I'd put it up there as an informal date night/really good friend place to go. On a leaner budget, try Tulio - which I'm heading over to in about 30 minutes. Yummy sweet-potato gnocchi.

Mike does a great job with Syrah.

Off topic, haven't been to Lark, but tried Crow the other night, very, very good.

Tulio has been one of my favorites for years. I am duplicating an old app they used to make for a dinner party tonight.
