I've been good so far!  I've gone a whole day without a single wine purchase!

Had this at an offline on Wednesday and thought it was good. Picked up two from K&L at $23 yesterday. Unfortunately, I just checked inventory and they are now sold out.

I have limited myself to some Cep pinot noir. The winter mailer season hit me hard, and it's nice to take a breather. This Taittinger NV sure is good, though...

12 x 2005 Honig Napa Cabernet Sauvignon - Must buy at under $25 per.
4 x 2004 Watermark Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
6 x 2006 Beringer Alluvium Blanc
1 x Yalumba Museum Release Tawny
4 x 2007 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc - Had to jump at $11.99 per bottle...can't believe how the price has risen...2007 now sells at many other stores for $16.99+!

And a bunch of potential QPR's...

So much for the new wine purchasing plan...

We bought two cases today at the Hospices of Sonoma....one from Freeman, and one from Lynmar.  They were $675 each....but the barrel samples were so good it was well worth it...besides...its for charity!  We were in the running for a case from KB, but the bidding got out of hand towards the end....with one case of KB going for $2000.

We discovered a new winery at the event that we'll be looking into buying from soon....Capiaux...awesome stuff!

ok, so after postnig on the BDX thread that I'm not playing in 05s, I decided to buy:

(3) 2005 Climens Sauternes (halves) @ $60 each.

Same adjusted price I paid for the '01 ($120/btl), and it sounds like a solid buy to me. That'll be it for the 05s for me however.

I also got in my CORE pre-release order:

(6) 2006 b.core
(6) 2006 CORE Red
(6) 2006 Core Hard Core
(3) 2006 Cuvee Fletcher

the one good thing about being gone for so long is that all of the spring mailers were past their deadlines - we have too much wine any way - unles some some knows where I can find some 04 Bruno Rocca Barbaresco.

Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until you realize it was your money to start with.

Say what?  What kind of wine is this?  We may have to snag a bottle or two!

Correction to my post, this is actually the 2005, not 2006. Here is what Dave had to say:

2005 CUVEE FLETCHER, Alta Mesa Vineyard.

70 cases produced, yields of 1.5 tons/acre, 28 months in 33% new/33% 1 year/33% 2 year old French wood.  This is a special vineyard and 3 barrel selection.  It will only be bottled in the best years.

More 2005 burgundy (quelle surprise). Lucked into a couple bottles of Dujac at release pricing. Also took down a truckload from the NH state stores (thanks to a friend there) - including splits of Jadot villages, Grivot Vosne Romanee and some Bonneau du Martray CC.

Capiaux has been around for quite sometime.  They make decent Pinots but nothing I've ever felt compelled to buy in quantity just a singleton every now and then  They produce (along with seemingly everybody else and his brother) a Garys' and Pisoni Pinot Noir along with a couple of others.  The Widdoes has generally been the most interesting in my experience but like I said not worth purchasing imo.

I thought the 2004 Capiaux "Garys'" and "Pisoni" were both very good, but haven't bought since, as the price started to get up there. (Around $50 or so).  They have an entry level wine (Chimera) that shows up on wine lists all over the place. Have never felt compelled to try it. Never had "Widdoes".  The current pricing (at least east of the Mississippi) has dropped this producer from my radar screen.

Beta testing a new signature.
