| After reading about Bond Wines in the Wine Advocate, I decided to sign up for the mailing list (through Harlan Estate). I've also read about the project in WS.
Besides a high-quality product at very expensive pricing, what else can I expect? Any ideas??

| | I was under the impression that if you are on the Harlan list you are automatically on the Bond list. I have not tasted the wines as yet. However, a friend of mine who is friends with Harlan indicated that the wines tasted very good but were less individual than Harlan Estate. Nevertheless, I plan on buying my allotment. | | | |

| Jones -
This has been a matter of debate. From what several board members have heard directly from Harlan Estate personnel, it is imperative that everyone sign up separately for the Bond list. In other words, people on the Harlan list are not automatically on the Bond list.
That's why I sent a separate e-mail and fax to Harlan requesting addition to the Bond list. Word of mouth has it that we should expect a mailer in January...

| | I also thought that I would automatically get am allocation. But, Short says, "NO". And, Short provided an EMail to request an allocation. I sent it last night. Will see what happens... | | | |

| I have received a few emails in response to my questions re: Bond Wines. Here is a excerpt from one of those emails.
Formal announcement of the inaugural releases will occur early next year. At this point, all I can say is look for something in February.
You have to, as STW mentioned, request to be on the Bond List even if you are on the Harlan list.

| | Well I guess I will call Don Weaver tomorrow but frankly that makes absolutely no sense to me. Why would Harlan exclude his most loyal customers? I bought a case of mags and a case of regular bottles of their first vintage (1990) and have bought at least that amount for every year since. Not honoring my mailing list seniority for the Bond wines seems illogical. Nevertheless, better safe than sorry and thanks for the tip. | | | |

| Jones: My point exactly. And, I brought that up @ Dinner with Short tonight.
Why wouldn't they include us (that are on the Harlan Mailer)?
Short said that they are treating it as a separate company.

| Please keep in mind that I'm only going on what I've been told by the people at Harlan. You guys are right - it doesn't make a ton of sense to NOT include the Harlan list --- but then no one else would get any. Maybe they felt like they wanted to start more or less from scratch with a new mailing list.
Don't you think us Harlan mailing list people would have seen an introduction letter or something like it?
As Jones said - better safe than sorry. Give them a call/e-mail/fax just in case.

| | I may be mistaken, but I believe I remember reading somewhere that Bill Harlan does not like the fact that he is a so called "Cult" winery and his desire is to share his wines with all seeking it out. So in feeling that way, having Bond open as a new winery and list will allow those searching for fine wine the opportunity to join on. It would seem only right though for those with seniority to at least be offered a spot on the list with priority. Who knows, I guess we will all wait and see. | | | |

| Yes, that is what I read also. I guess, it is similar to the ".comers" trying to get away/distance themselves from the ".com"-thing.
Another tidbit that I heard about Mr. Harlan is that he does NOT drink Wine. Never tasted his own Wine.

Am I wrong on that?...Could be...

What did Don Weaver have to say about the Bond mailing list and Harlan Estate members? Anything of value?

| I was worried about how Harlan was going to treat the current allocation people when it comes to Bond. This is what was sent back when I made an inquiry about automatically being placed on Bonds list. This came in today:
Dear Mr. Chandler:
Formal announcement of the inaugural releases of Bond will occur early next year. We will communicate your interest and request they include you in their initial mailing.
