| Something just dawned on me: I've yet to see a '99 Jordan Cab at retail. Their website says nothing about it either. I know I've seen a TON of the '98 Cab collecting dust on shelves at $45 a pop so I'm sure that has something to do with it. However, knowing that '99 was a relatively good year for a lot of Napa/Sonoma producers, I'm surprised they've yet to release it.
I only bring this up b/c a Jordan Cab was THE wine that made me realize I should find out more about this thing called wine. I know Jordan routinely gets ripped around this and the WS forum but I'll still buy their cab every year purely for symbolic reasons. I went to their '98 release party last year and had a blast -- beautiful place.
Are there other (relatively) well-known CA producers that have yet to release their '99 cabs?

| Technically the Montelena Estate Cab is not yet released but futures orders have been sent and retailers have been known to ignore the wishes of the winery to wait until March 1st to put it on the shelves. Silver Oak Napa won't be released until Feb 1st. Shafer Hillside Select won't be released until either September or October 1st.
On the other hand Pride has already released their 2000 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.

| From what I heard that some held back releasing the 1999s so as to Move the '98s. That plan did Not work-out too well.

| I'm sure that may be part of it. The odd thing is Phelps released the Insignia earlier than planned. At the 1998 Insignia release party in March 2001 they said Sept. 2002 was the release date for the 1999 and they ended up releasing it in May of 2002. The Backus however wasn't released until November 2002, two months late. | | | |

| skwid, The Silver Oak Napa to be released in February is the 98!!
They won't release the 99 Alexander Valley until August 2003. The 99 Napa will probably be released in Feb 2004.

| Bud,
As you know I'm sure, that is due to the extreme amount of Oak contact that wine recieves in an attempt to make it smooth and drinkable on release.

| skwid, add Whitehall Lane to the list of 2000's already released. I picked up one this weekend at COSTCO for $34.00 a bottle. That is the regular bottling; not the Reserve. | | | Joe-----Wine is like potato chips around me...if it's open, it's gone. | |
