| The selected person picks a wine for everyone to buy a bottle of. Then, on a pre-specified date, the person who picked the wine will post TN. All other participants will post theirs after.
The wine should be one that has NOT been reviewed by a major publication, should be available across the country, and should be around $20 (give or take).

| Yes. And to force all of us to drink the same wine at virtually the same time...which allows us to compare our own TN.
Plus, if it hasn't been rated, then we can judge our scores with those of "professionals."

| OK. I am IN. My 1st try @ this. Let the games begin.
So, it can be any wine, any variety, from anywhere in the world, red or white, etc...?

| | Yes - can be any varietal from anywhere in the world. Just as long as it fits the given parameters above (price, availability, and lack of critical review). | | | |

| Hello all... now that the anticipation level is extremely high, I've decided to post my TAA Selection for December. I have also headed the call for a higher $$$ wine.
This wine is a 2000 Bordeaux from a region Wine Spectator board members might (or might not) appreciate the most, St. Emilion.
Parker and WS have preliminary ratings, which in this case I think is good. We can use this wine as a gauge for how we relate to the 2000 Bordeaux vintage in comparison to the gurus.
So the December 2002 TAA Wine is:
2000 Chateau Faugeres St Emilion
I've seen this wine range in price from $23 on futures, to upwards of $35. Local stores in NJ have it for $30.
The DATE for this TAA is DECEMBER 16th.
Good luck, and enjoy! | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| | It will be some time before any of this stuff shows up in the boring midwest. Anyone know of a place that I can order it from? Shipping not a problem. | | | |

Think I'll try to purchase this weekend when we drive to NYS. LOL.

| I was at the wine library this week and they did not have it.
Ojeffso- can you give me directions to Bertelli's? I can take a ride next week when in NJ.

| Revlis,
Not sure if you saw this on the WS site. It's from "Vino Me".
Here's the location: January TAA?
Here's the entire text:
Topic: Revlis, Have you picked a January TAA host yet?
Or are you busy taking care of other business? | | | Cheers, y'all

| stemor, no need to make light of it.
I've replied, and posted the TAA successor for January. I'll also be renaming the TAA so as not to upset any other people over there. I'd think they'd be flattered that we'd want to keep such a great idea going....
Anyhow, TAW might be more appropriate. Tasting Across the World.
Or... VCT for January. Or something. We will discuss. | | | If you drink wine, you get smarter....

| Revs,
Nice site, easy to use and some great features. I will be participating in the TAW. I picked up mine at the Winexchange www.winex.com for $35.00.
