1999 Martinelli Guiseppi and Louisa (sp?). This wine continues to impress. Great length. Berries and liqueur. Hedonism in a bottle. 93. One bottle left.

Blue Oval.

Got a few folks stopping by later tonite.
I'm toying with a comparison tasting.
I've got a few bottles of Marietta Old Vines Red (Lot #27 and #30).
Perhaps we'll put some folks on the spot for their evaluations of these two.
Stay tuned

That sounds like a good experiment, budman. I enjoyed the Lot 29 (my first Marietta) very much and agree that it's near the top of the QPR mountain.

For me - I'm taking tonight off in anticipation of tomorrow night's destruction of:

1990 Dalla Valle Cabernet
1992 La Jota Caberent - Anniversary
1992 Dunn Howell Mountain
1999 Quilceda Creek Cabernet (if necessary)

Will post TN on Sunday (if I'm still alive).

Hello all

I've got a new recipe I want to try with lamb or veal shanks so I'm thinking 1990 Banfi Brunello.

Welcome Corkage! Glad you made it!

Would that be the regular label Banfi BdM or the Poggio all Oro (expensive one)?

Either way - sounds like a winner to me.

Yes, short/seek1: Excellent line-up, indeed. I heard about it last night. Hate you both...

Revlis & I were thinking of getting together & doing 1 even better, just to show/teach the 2 of you...

Anyway/Seriously, sounds GREAT, have a Good Time. Enjoy those beauties.

I am especially interested in the LaJota review. I am a big fan (or was, I should say). Stopped buying LaJota after the '99 release.

STW,
Wow! Good luck this weekend.
Take notes often (and early!)
Can't wait to read them.

Yea, I noticed that "if necessary" also and got a chuckle. Was going to post some kind of sarcastic remakr, but I might have had to moderate myself.

If you drink wine, you get smarter....

Well it is one of those situations where the 4th wine will need to be open for 4-5 hours before we open it. I am going for it I have been prepping all week long so no turning back now

Stemor-- Man, you are the offline King! Sounds like you al had a blast.

STW-- I love Etude's stuff. I got a bottle of the 99 a few weeks ago, myself. When you planning on popping it?

Presently, I am about to get ready for a hockey game, so I will have no wine tonight, sadly.

It's been a very wine-ey weekend, so we're going simple tonight. Starting with the '01 Mt. Eden West Slope Chardonnay, followed by the Marietta Old Vine Lot #30 (both sub-$10 recent purchases from Winex.com). The West Slope is the best sub-$10 Chard. I've had in years, drinks like one twice the price.

Nothing tonight, I am a little wiped out this evening. Opening anything would potentially be a waste.
