| | If I can ask for people to divulge some of their favorites. Want to concentrate on buying some "Everyday" Wine for the next month or 2. And, would appreciate suggestions (that are currently available @ stores). Range: $10.00-$20.00. And "your" rating/TNs (NOT WS or Parker) in the 87points & higher...Thank You. | | | |

| I will duplicate some of the Budman Picks,
First and foremost I drink Gallo of Sonoma in this price range. They are simple wines that hold true to the varietal - in order Cab, Chard, Merlot, Zinfandel, Pinot, Sangiovese. The last 3 I don't feel are as good as the first 3. The Cab is 8 bucks and can be an 87 point wine in good years. If you find the Single Vinyards for under $20 they are often 88 - 90 point wines.
Also from California, I had a good experience with Ridge Costal Range this year. This field blend had a great flavor that I rated 87 points. And, I have enjot most Ch Souverain in this range. I love Dubeoufs Descombs Morgon - this was great in the 2000 vintage and many others (avoid 2001)
In the summer I eat a lot of bi-valves, the meal wouldn't be complete without a Muscadet, Sauvion makes a good one (look for the Cleray) - not an 87 point wine without the food but it's a magic combo and I love it.
German Riesling is a no brainer here. Look for and Kabinett or Spatlese from Mosel. The vinyards I Prefer are Wurtzgarden, Treppchen, and Sonhuner. I like Doc Fischer and Merkelback off the top of my head.
In Italy you can't beat the deal on the Falesco Vitiano, but that is no secret to most posters here.
TCK
Rough draft I'll think of more.

| I believe that Cotes du Rhone are still the best-value reds at present, especially when their food-friendliness is taken into consederation.
My current release favorites are Brusset CdR Villages Cairanne Travers, and St. Cosme Les Deux Albions, both 2001.
If you can still find it (you never know) '99 Les Filles Durma CdR is excellent (90-ish points) and should be under $20. It's worth looking for IMO.

| lcc-i think the best thing to do is look at this thread and a bunch of the tasting notes. most of the wines in this price bracket do not sell out quickly. try some and see what you like.
i like what other people have mentioned. here are some more.
2001 melville estate pn $22 a little above. 1999 chateau souverain cab probably $16. 2001 aussie shiraz- try a bunch in this price range. current release of cambria catherine's vineyard chard-at costco for $10 and my house chard. anything from marietta.

| | I had the Palacios Remondo Rioja La Vendimia '01 @ $9 last night. - a fruit forward, PN-like red that Winex raved about on their November cover. I'd rate it 88-89 and will be buying more. Great QPR. | | | |

| Abadia Retuerta Rivola. I've mentioned it twenty-something times probably but I need to get my point across.
This stuff is great and usually runs about $11. Both the 2000 and 2001 rec'd 90 points from you-know-who.
