I'll give you one freaking guess which option I selected.

How about -

No effect - I have too much wine as it is. However, lack of space won't stop me from buying more.

Generally speaking, I don't buy as much as I used to. About 2 years ago, I slowed my purchases. But, I used to buy way too much...

Kistler just sent out "address confirmation". My usual source for selling the Kistler has not been able to move more than a few bottles of the Chard from the spring mailer, so I doubt I will buy any of that. The economy is definitely affecting wine sales.

I'm trying to cut back, but not because of the economy. Running out of room and trying to cut back on consumption.

I'm not cutting back, in fact I've been told to "pick up the pace" on my wine purchases.  Did I ever mention how much I love my wife?

Of course, this is off a small base.  I only have 6 active mailing lists ... QC, Le Cadeau, Kistler, Bressler, Hansel, and Stefania.  To me they all offer a good value for what they are.  I'm not interested in flipping, nor am I intersted in buying a wine based on Parker points.   I'm on zero waiting lists, and I'm OK with that.

Most of our purchases are typically dry whites of varying levels of complexity for varying levels of everyday drinking occasions.  We probably open only one bottle of red wine per week in the summer, which seems to last most of the year in this part of the country.

So NO, the economy isn't impacting us at all.  In fact, our local economy doesn't feel any different, and our personal situation has only gotten better.  Whatever changes we're making in our purchasing & consumption are being driven personal tastes and/or storage limitations, as mentioned by many others.

Cheers, y'all

I am both "cutting back a little bit" as well as "weeding out some mailers", as the two options go hand in hand. I am not buying any less wine, but as "established" mailers creep up in price, new startups and new recommendations take their place. For example, this year I passed on Sloan for the first time, but bought Scarecrow for the first time. No less wine, and no fewer total mailers, but a savings of $100 per bottle. Passed on Peter Michael Chardonnay for the first time, but bought Peay Chardonnay for the first time. No less wine, but a savings of $25-$30 per bottle.  This is my strategy right now.  I am going to have to take a hard look at KB if the SVDs are $70+.  A similar price point caused me to pass on Brewer Clifton, as there are too many good $45 Pinots out there these days.  A savings of $25 per bottle times 50 bottles is real money. Might even pay for a tank of gas or two.

Beta testing a new signature.

I agree about Kosta Browne. The SVDs have gone up about $20 in 3 vintages. Also, with their production close to 10 times what it was with the 03 vintage, I suspect the bubble is about to burst. I'm starting to see a few bottles at auction for near
the retail price. Last year at this time, they were fetching 3-4 times the retail price...

Oh, and I dumped Aubert for Peay for the same reason. Kistler is next.
