I know many folks read the Parker board but if you haven't seen this thread you should give it a look:

There are some posts that are probably going to be deleted very soon.

If I wasn't banned  over there I'd post that very few have had the resources or opportunity to try enough different vintages from the top wineries around the world to even be actively or intelligently involved in a "Greatest Wine in the World" discussion so if the guy wants to make that pronouncement, more power to him.  It certainly sounds like he has the experience.

It is sort of like saying the Beatles are the greatest band ever but not thinking "Michelle" is a better song than Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven."

Funny that you posed this, I was just over there laughing hysterically at it.  He keeps speaking of empirical evidence, but the taste of any wine is too subjective to give empirical ratings.

I like the guy drinking Carlisle, eating pizza and listening to Alice in Chains. I'm so low brow :-P

Been watching it - read it while you can, it won't last long.

I will say this - Big Boy has been a Big Bidder on some of my WineBid Auctions, so we like him for that!

Six+ pages of pinot envy.

I'm glad at least a few people have their personal "greatest wine in the world" figured out.

Ignore the above post. I usually read the replies in my email account and the last post is the first I read. I'm not stupid, really!

It never ceases to amaze me how many wine lovers out there have this incessant need to say "Look at me".

One could skip over 90% of the content in that thread, but imo nobody should miss Allen Meadows post, post #276 (clickme)

Good post by Meadows - I think he has a future as a diplomat if he so chooses.

I'm sure RC is probably one of the greatest wines of the world, and that this guy drinks some incredible wines that 95% of us will never will get the chance to try - the issue I think is really the millionaire wine drinker saying "hey, the best wine in the world is prohibitively expensive, I have tried it many times, and even though most of you will never get a chance to try it, take my word for it. I drink it often."

That would piss some people off, don't you think?

IMHO - the DRC thread reaffirms eBob's nickname of "ePantLoad" until the end of time. Wish I came up with that one...

Nice to see Allen Meadows posting there again.  I don't have the patience to wade through the entire thread, but it seems to have recovered nicely.

Another "WIML" ism, yes?
Should we all be as clever!
