LCC: The KB is ready to drink. I don't think I would hold on to these too long. I have 2 left and will drink one within 6 months and will probably hold my last bottle as an experiment to see how KB's evolve with extended ageing.

Beta testing a new signature.

ricky: how is the 97 Etude coming along. I assume no rush, unless you tell me diferently. By the way, I've had that bottle many times & every time loved it, just loved it.

lcc - the drinking condition for this bottle was not in best situation.  it was at chinese restaurant banquet after the the funeral so i was drinking this out of tiny thick water goblet
that being said...'97 etude cab is not going anywhere.  upon opening the wine was tight and closed.  after hour+/- it started to show how wonderful this wine is.  tons of sediment but with very nice sweet tannin and good balance of fruit and acid.   i have one bottle of my own and will not open this for few years!

I'm now convinced that most KBs are ready earlier rather than later. Though I'm curious about your science experiment. The 03 4 Barrel may be the one that bucks the trend.

I think I agree, Winetex. It does seems these are early drinking pinots for the most part.  Which is not a problem @ all, I have plenty that I have to cellar as do most of us I am sure.  The 03 I had the other day was great & ready to go.

This always reminds me of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels when Steve Martin tells Michael Cane: oh yeah, you are smart, invested in a garden that is a headache & wine you cannot drink. J

Last night:
2005 Navarro Pinot Noir Method Ancienne Unfiltered

Sipping today, post work on a 2005 Ketcham Estate RRV Pinot Noir

Both ok to marginal, I am getting tired of drinking so many $35+ marginal wines (luckily I don't pay for them, but I sure leave a lot of 3/4 full bottles on the counter), makes me miss my wine group in Hawaii (and off subject, as bad as the rental market was out there, I really miss that in comparison to Napa too).

2003 Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben Ürziger Würzgarten Riesling Auslese *** - speaking of cost this might be the best $15.99 wine in my experience. Neat wine that disappeared like water.

I had the 2000 Kabinet from this producer on Sunday off a wine list and liked it very much.

Good to hear since I just picked up 5 of these *** at winebid albeit $25 each. Summer wine, do not think these are going to be long termers.
