For our next Cave Club spelunking, we're doing Pinots...Cali, Oregon, and Burgundy. I was thinking of leading off with the Calis (ZD Carneros and Martinelli) then going with the Oregons (Ponzi Vineyards and Hamacher) then the Burgs (Domaine Gabriel Billard Pommard and Domaine Roumier Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussiere), thinking of a lighter-to-heavier (although the band might be thin) approach. Any better ideas?

Personally I'd reverse the order you propose and end with Martinelli.

I'd start with the Burgundy, followed by Oregon and Cali last. You can reverse the first two, but I'd definetly do the Cali last. We had a similar PN tasting last year and the leaner Burgundy did not show well following the Cali PNs. The fuller, jammier Cali Pinots will overpower the leaner ones.

Good point. I love the Martinelli, so I don't mind finishing with it.
