I would appreciate suggestions on a good pairing from the following & the readiness of the wine to be consumed:

03 Robert Foley Petit Sirah

01 Kistler RRV Kistler Vin Pinot
03 KB 4-Barrel Pinot

01 Kongsgaard Napa Valley Hudson Vin Syrah

99 Araujo Napa Valley Eisele Vin Cab Sauv
99 JP Insignia

Thanks as always!

Depending on the strength of the orange sauce I would say none of those wines would really work. Best bet of not overwhelming/being overwhelmed would be the Kistler.

I'm with Jason. I've had the 02 Kistler Kistler a couple of times and it's going to be sweet/brown sugar, which is probably going to be the closest to what you're going for with the Orange sauce. I'd run away from the 2 cabs, and probably the PS and Syrah as well.

As it turns out, I made duck a l'orange (Balthazar's recipe which does not result in an excessively sweet sauce) last night as well.  Our dinner guests brought a 96 Dominus and while that would not have been my first choice it went surprisingly well.  Fruity pinot noir is what I would pair with the dish.  From your list, the 03 Kosta Browne 4 Barrel with its big fruit and some RS will go very well.

I'd go with the Kistler.

Kistler, dude. Didn't you post the same question in the Drinking Lately thread? :-) I replied in that thread as well. And, posted a TN.
