| I've seen so many conflicting TN's on this one, from the wine itself to decant times. Anyone tried this (lately would be great), and have advice on decant? Thanks in advance! | | |

| Drew,
Not sure that there is any right answer. I would open it, sample a bit and go from there, maybe 1 hour or so? Just a guess as I haven't had one in years.

| | These have been some of the best wines I have had. The 95 is truly profound. If you want to drink one this young, I'd plan on at least an hour in the decanter, and then let it open up in the glass. I would suggest not plugging this into a meal for one course where it has to be consumed over 15 minutes. With a main course, or with cheese, to let it open over a half hour or so. | | | |

| Thx for the advice Jason and Fred!!!
So, I had wanted to pop this for a while and finally gave in to my lust for infanticide (kind of funny, given it was at the 6 year mark). I asked deMello over on eBob what he thought and his rec was to Audoze it for 6-8. I compromised and pulled the cork 4 hrs early and then decanted for 2 hrs, with some in a glass while we drank thround the rest of the wines.
Pouring it into the glass, it was a dark, dark purple that stained the glass in two swirls. Texture was just short of a thin motor oil, and not nearly as tannic as I would have expected from reading other notes. The nose? Leather - sincerely reminded me of our old horse Ruby's saddle. I don't know if I had a different wine than 2/3 of CellarTracker, but the leathery/brett smell was over the top for the first hour and then started to settle down in the decanter. Flavor profile was plenty of dark berries and pepper, but again, not what I was expecting; Turley has always been over the top and in-your-face with their fruit profiles on the zin side and I thought this was much more of a well-balanced wine with an incredibly silky smooth finish. Not sure I'm a big fan of all the leather, but it was definitely fun to finally pop the cork on the oldest bottle of wine in my collection that I bought on release.

| | Thanks for the note. I have a bottle of the 99 and the 02, my last Turleys. I'm thinking next year for the 99. | | | |
