| I still buy the Melville Pinots Estate in under $30, in the $18-$25 range, jaimetown. And, the Syrahs for that matter. NJ must have good prices for these, I guess.
Dave: I am looking @ my list of R-V wines as I type. The lowest Pinot I have is the Sonoma Coast Summa Vin. And, I paid with S/H+ tax $40.00.

| | There is no such thing as "Peay Cep". The name of the wine is just Cep. | | | |

| Technically true, but if you are looking in WineSearcher you need to look at both. Some retailers list it as Cep and some as Peay Cep (CT has it right). No Cep available on the East Coast. | | | |

| | Nothing technical about it. The wine's name is Cep. One doesn't need to put the misnomer Peay Cep into wine-searcher because (quite obviously) just Cep will get hits for wines correctly named Cep as well as bottles incorrectly listed as Peay Cep. | | | |

Daniel, this seems to be a sensitive subject for you. If Peay has no connection with Cep, then I can understand and empathize with your concern. After all, you do have a business relationship with Peay, and you recommended Cep without disclosing any financial interest. Still, the fact that roughly half of the retailers list this wine as "Peay Cep" makes me wonder why they fail to recognize this separation that you are trying so very hard to maintain.
Ethics aside, I take it that you now finally realize that you've recommended a wine that is not available (at least at a retailer that is linked to WineSearcher) on the East Coast? Doh!

| I've only had Cep once at a tasting at K&L. My memory is that there was no mention of Peay on the label. But I do remember being told that it was made by Peay. It seemed like the verbal disclosure was for marketing purposes only. I've had several wines with remarks like, "we can't tell you who makes it but the fruit comes from then vineyard next door to Screaming Eagle" or something like that. This was how Cep was presented to me, with a wink and a nod.
If you look at K&L there is no mention of Peay.

Dave, I didn't get the impression that Dan was sensitive about this. And he mentioned his relationship with them, if not here, then in the Peay thread. I don't understand your criticism of his post. | | TN posted on Cellartracker "I drink no more than a sponge." François Rabelais www.tanglenet.com

| | Cep is made by Peay, but like many, many other 2nd label wines there is absolutely no indication on the label that it is associated with Peay. No big deal, the wine name is Cep, that's all. It is distributed, so my original recommendation stands - if you are interested in it, ask your favorite local retailer to order it, simple as that. | | | |

| | The '06 Thomas Fogarty is quite good. (@K+L for $23) It needs a lot of time to open up, though. Day 1 had a sharp, almost metallic bite to it. Day 2 it had mellowed and was like a darker version of the '05 Varner. (Both vineyards are in the same area.) | | | |

A to Z isn't bad. Around $18. Except that it's from Oregon...
Just recently started carrying Thousand Foot, from Nine North, the makers of Twenty Bench, one of our (few) favorite sub-$20 Cabs. Reasonable for about $25.
