| I'm thinking about this because of all of the new mailers coming out. What to buy if anything?Â
For the first time since I've been cellaring wine I sold a bit. Why? A. Cellar space is at a premium B. After looking at all of that wine if we plan on not drinking certain wines they shouldn't be in there - ie some Bordeauxs. C. "Why did I buy all this QC?"Â
(Â - denotes same position; ^ moving up; V moving down)
Of interest is Le Cadeau displacing Aubert, at least until the mailer.
Krug - Quilceda Creek ^ Kosta Browne ^ Bruno Giacosa V Domaine Arlaud ^ Domaine du Pégaü - Bouchard Père et Fils - Frédéric Magnien - Le Cadeau ^ Domaine de la Romanée-Conti ^
Edited because Dave found the original thread (very cool btw):
From 7/23/2004 here were my top 5:
Domaine du Pégaü Turley Kongsgaard Quilceda Creek Verget
Turley was the one I spent the most time getting rid of. After acquiring all of that Turley I had a huge palate change.Â

| I you're going to have too much of something that you decide you'd rather sell than drink, QC isn't a bad choice.

| Peay Vineyards (this will level off) Kosta Browne (this will go down as I am no longer buying) Littorai (this is on the way up) Radio-Coteau (this will level off) Match Vineyards (this is on the way up) Dehlinger (this is on the way up) Bressler (heading up but this will then level off) Hermann J. Wiemer (due to FL trip, will decline) Dr. Konstantin Frank (due to FL trip, will decline) Melville (this will drop out of the top 10 within 6-9 months I expect)
Not sure what 2-3 producers will make up slots 8, 9 and 10, but I suspect at least one of them will be an Italian producer.

Very similar to last year's list. I hadn't inventoried all my Caymus cabs a year ago, so it didn't show up then. KB and Sea Smoke are moving up due to the size of allocations and purchases.

| Using CT, and factoring in pending purchases, my list is as follows. but it is a bit deceiving because by the time some of these pending purchases arrive, other in-stock bottles will be gone, so there is no exact point in time when all of the wines listed in CT are actually in my possession:
Kosta Browne-soon to get bigger Radio Coteau-as a result of recent purchase. Aubert-Soon to get bigger Jones Family August West-as a result of recent purchase. Peter Michael-not long for my top 10, as I am likely to drop this if the prices are what I suspect in the soon-to-come effer. Sea Smoke Brewer-Clifton Bressler-as a result of recent purchase Ramey-Place in the top 10 uncertain. Only buy retail. But if the appellation Chards stay on point, I will continue to buy, and this may replace Peter Michael as one of my go-to Whites.
Honrable mention is Landmark, currently sitting at #12. As with Ramey, something has got to fill the P-M void as far as Chards are concerned. Club discount has made their top tier bottlings very attractive and I am likely to load up.
Another honorable mention is WesMar. When the offer hits in March, my more-than-a-case purchase will vault this into the Top 10.

after Spring mailer season, Neal, Peay, and KB will probably be neck and neck for #1.

| Quilceda Creek Kosta Browne - will become #1 after the upcoming mailer Le Cadeau Windy Oaks - will move up the list to #1 or #2 after March Pegau Ridge Rhys - will move up after I order this time around Vieux Donjon Stefania Clos des Papes
Not really a whole lot of change for me. I'm pretty much set on who I buy from now so those will remain in my top 10 for the foreseeable future. I imagine some more Rhone and possibly some Burg producers might creep in over the next year.

Kistler Martinelli Dehlinger Peay Vineyards Bressler
It makes sense that Kistler and Martinelli have fallen down or off my list. Ayear and a half before that, Loring was in my top 5. What a few years does to your palate.....
