I still subscribe electronically.  I was disappointed that Bressler has not been reviewed again, as I think his wines have gotten better and better.  The big winners are Kistler, Marcassin and Aubert, which are at the very top with 99 scores (No 100's this issue).  A lot of those three in the top ratings all the way down.  2004 Abreu gets 98, as does Harlan and Togni. 2005 Sloan gets 98-100, Screamer and Shafer HSS get 97.   Realm did well across the line, every score from 91-95.
Other notables: Pax got a 96 for three of their syrahs, and Pahlmeyer finally makes it back to the high scores with a 96 for the proprietary red.Â
Included are a few surprises: He tasted but did not score the 2006 Shafer merlot. The 2006 Shafer 1.5 Cab rated 85-87 (that's gotta hurt).  Cartlidge & Brown merlot rated an 82 as did St Clement Chardonnay.  Saddleback got a lot of wines with low scores, as did Kendall Jackson.  The 2005 Amuse Bouche rated an 89 (ouch),

All in all, not a lot of surprises.  In fact, it looks like it could have been scripted.  As the internet age has taken over, and wine BB's are well traveled, I find less use for Parker every year.

Randy, I feel the same way. I'm letting my subscription lapse. My wife will be pleased as it was a gift from her. More money for black shoes

Wondering whether the Futo buyers are happy, sad or confused :-P At $200 a bottle, I'm happy... I passed.

I got a glimpse of the Aubert scores on winecommune already, what was rocking on Kistler?

Nice to see Chasseur do so well.  I have been enjoying everything they make for the past couple of years. At least as good as many wines that people here fall all over themselves to get. Yet this producer gets little love.

Answering a question posed above, the folks who bought Futo should feel a bit better than the folks who bought L-M. But it is all relative.

An observation with little business sense or science behind it.  Not sure if it has an impact (am I allowed to use that word, TJ?) on the quality of what is produced, but it seems that wineries are producing waaaaay too many individual bottlings. (See, e.g., Carlsile).  Would the wine be better if they focused their output on fewer bottlings and blended with a more precise hand?  "Single vineyard" does not alway equal "better wine".  As a consumer, I would rather have 5,000 cases of excellent wine available to the public as opposed to 500 cases each of 10 "unique and hard to get"  bottlings.  Just a thought. But in glancing at the wines reviewed, it appears that  the multiple bottling trend now ranges from quizzical to down right comical.

JimmyV... I completely agree. It's nice being on some of the better 'boutique' mailing lists, but when I only get allocated 1 or 2 bottles due to low production, it's a big disappointment to me. Imagine if you only got allocated 1 or 2 bottles of Aubert Ritchie chard!!!

Perish the thought. But I can at least fall back on the Lauren and Reuling!

Could somebody please help me out a bit?  I'd like to see some Kistler scores, particularly the our main Chardonnays:  Vine Hill, Kistler, and Cuvee Cathleen.

The 2003 Cuvee Cathleen sure was a perfect way to enjoy the sight of a fully decorated, peaceful Christmas tree at about 02:00 this morning.  Now I'm going to reload ... I'd just like to let Carol know what she can expect.

If somebody could PM me the Kistler scores, it'd be much appreciated.

Cheers, y'all

Parker really liked the Aubert chards. Those are high scores.

No falling back on the Reuling in 2006.  I hope production isn't down on the Ritchie and Lauren.  In 2005 Rivers-Marie seemed to get hit on all sides production-wise just at a time when demand was skyrocketing.  Parker's latest Aubert reviews won't do much to stanch demand.Â
